About Us

Commercial Air Systems’ (CAS) is a business opportunity that has combined for over 80 years of experience in the HVAC design/build construction field. Our mission is to develop relationships with customers, employees, and venders through communication, and the quality, cost effective, and timely completion of projects. The ideas for this venture were formed during our previous work in the HVAC industry. The company began small, but is growing as a direct result of the quality of services CAS provides.   Matt Wilmoth, President Graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Received his North Carolina Professional Engineering license in July 1999 and has obtained Virginia and South Carolina licenses.  Holds Unlimited HVAC License inNorth Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina. Some local HVAC designs include the warehouse and garage facilities for the new Pike Electric complex located in Mt. Airy, the distribution center for Candle Corporation of America located in Elkin, doctors offices located in Elkin, and warehouse facilities throughout the state. Matt has designed several HVAC systems for industrial clients including Renfro Corporation, CMI, Vaughn Bassett, and Gerard’s Bakery. Gary Crews, Vice President Started his career at Chatham Manufacturing in the sheet metal shop. In this shop Gary learned to layout, cut and fabricate all types of duct work for HVAC installations. The ability to fabricate ductwork by hand provides a greater understanding of the time, quality and cost required to produce HVAC systems. Traveled all over the eastern United States installing commercial HVAC systems. Worked as an Estimator and Project Manager. He has experience with the cost estimation of jobs, ordering of materials, monthly cost accounting, developing growth opportunities, and general project management. Managed a variety of jobs ranging from $5,000 to $3,000,000. He managed the HVAC installation for the RF Micro lab in Greensboro, the distribution center for Candle Corporation of America in Elkin, medical facilities/doctor offices in North Carolina, warehouse facilities throughout the state, and over twenty-five Lowe’s Hardware stores through out Virginia, North and South Carolina. Other Key Managers Rex Gregory has been in the construction business for 15 years. Mr. Gregory is our service manager, and he brings his vast experience to every CAS project. His service background means that there are few problems that he has not addressed in the past. Gary Culler is our mechanical piping manager and holds mechanical licenses for North Carolina. He has over 33 years of experience in our field. Mr. Culler has developed a team of skilled mechanical piping installers that are second to none in our industry. Blaine Clement & Robbie Culler serve as Project Managers for CAS. Their knowledge of HVAC construction is outstanding. Mr. Clement and Culler like Gray Crews have worked from HVAC helper to foreman to project manager. Our existing customers have expressed gratitude for our project manager’s professionalism. CAS is able to provide mechanical design and installation for any HVAC project, and we carry a low enough overhead to be very competitive in the bid/spec market.
